The busy season has come. I just started college, a lot of us A-Levels graduates are either taking on jobs or doing some soul-searching, and exam preparations are happening everywhere else. Though outside, there are strings of waving flags, colourful posters, and papier-mâché installations, there is an air of solemnity currently going around. The aftermath of Mount Sinabung’s eruption still lingers in Malaysia; the Movement Control Order (MCO) has been extended right up to December 31st; at this time of writing, actor Chadwick Boseman, who acted as the beloved King T’Challa in Marvel’s Black Panther, has passed away from stage III colon cancer. The slew of other recent events overseas does not help either. Celebrating a national occasion this year obviously would not seem as lively as before. I figure that a lot of us would continue to be boxed up at home during this time.
Watching the genuine sense of patriotism and joy on television, I am reminded that we deserve to unwind a little during this weekend. As you read this, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and pick up our articles, or watch Netflix, spend time with your close ones, or stare at the ceiling and process the past week, whichever works. At any point, most obligations could wait, and it helps to gather yourself up in the meantime before tackling them more efficiently.
As this would be our third issue so far, I think we are far enough to see what Getting It Strait would look like towards the long term. We are still experimenting with new things and are trying to set up a great platform for our current and future readership. If you have any suggestions, considering to contribute and/or join our team, or just want to say hi, don’t hesitate to DM us on Instagram or reach out through our email. Each and every inbox notification gets us giddy with joy.
Take care and have a great Merdeka.
